Taking place from November 18 to 20 on the 29th floor of Cisco’s Toronto Innovation Centre, FINHACKS will bring together more than 100 students from various colleges and universities in Southern Ontario. Open to all skill levels, participants will join teams and be challenged to develop innovative solutions that enhance customer experiences, facilitate financial transactions using connected devices, and surface new tools and ideas that use the latest in software and hardware technologies – with the objective of completing a working MVP prototype over the course of the hackathon.

Up for grabs? Bragging rights and $10,000 in prizes to the top three teams who best answer the hackathon challenge statement.

FINHACKS is your chance to stretch your creative muscles and leverage your personal experience and talents to develop something innovative from scratch. Are you ready to dive in?

Informative Sessions

During the hackathon, Cisco, TD and other local tech partners will hold sessions about different technology developments and trends. Each session will provide participants with a unique and informative deep dive into diverse technological areas they might not be familiar with. The sessions are a great learning opportunity for participants who will also have access to various mentors who can provide them with relevant data, context and technical expertise that can feed into their prototypes.

FINHACKS Hackathon

FINHACKS is an immersive 3-day innovation challenge sponsored by Cisco and TD exploring IoT and FinTech. Over the course of the weekend, participants will think, code and prototype software and/or hardware tools and services that predict and plan for the impact connected devices will have on our financial lives. Exclusively for post-secondary students, FINHACKS is taking place in the Cisco Toronto Innovation Centre.

Judging Process & Prizes

FINHACKS will be awarding $10,000 in prizes to the top three teams that best answer the judging criteria presented at the hackathon kick-off. All teams will present their prototype submissions to Committee Judges during a science-fair-style expo, where judges will go around the room evaluating each project. The top 10 teams from the expo will then get the chance to pitch in front of a panel of Finale Judges, made up of Cisco and TD executives for the chance to emerge victorious!
